thermostat and cts sensor question

  Ly Megane 230 F1
After reading about the cts sensor restricting rpm i checked my car tonight and its only revving to 6800rpm.
The temp gauge reads just below half all the time when its warmed up and according to ktec racing site the thermostat causes this?

My question.. if i take the thermostat out and run the car should the car eventually then warm up to the point that the gauge reads half way?

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
no, you need a working thermostat to help get up to temperature. A faulty one is open al the time, so removing it would be no different, or even worse

ahh thats fine..aslong as they jam open and not closed :).. does it sound like a thermostat problem to you? or more a cts sensor?

I changed mine a couple of months back, price from Renault:

Thermostat R82 00 772 985 £19.04

  AB 182-GTI-6-205 GTI
Good thread this, I noticed mine only revs to around 6.5 to 6.8k too, so is there something in the map that lowers the rev limiter till its up to 'normal' operating temp?

My gauge sits just under half, so is this why? I would have never even thought to look at the stat as I thought that was normal!

What's the normal rev limit then?

I believe it should rev to around 7200. I'm more bothered that there is another wee something wrong with the car already!

Thanks kol..will phone my local renault dealership :)
