thermostat housing + handbrake

hi all, im a bit new to all this motoring lark as well as the forum thing so sorry if this is in the wrong places. i have 1.8rsi 8v clio on a p plate (1996) and the top bit of the thermostat housing has snapped off leaving the car undrivaeble pretty much.can i get a housing off any 8v model or does it have to be specific to the 1.8 engine?
also my handvrake is very poor,to the point of leaving the car in gear when leaving it! how does this adjust? i have quite a good knowledge of cars but all advice is greatly appreciated

IIRC only the RSi, and maybe the 1.8RT use that engine mate, on the clio range anyway, both are rare id say, might be worth buying a new part if its not expensive
