i sound abit silly asking this being quite knowlegable about cars but where is the thermostat on a 96 rsi? i need to get some antifreeze in there before tonight as well cause its gonna freeze and i have none in at all!!!

not owning an RSi i cant say for certain, but, im pretty sure its got a very similar looking housing to a valver

so, look for something shaped like this on the pass side of the engine, and it should be in there

Lunner has got an RSi, ask him

thank you for your help brun i have sorted it now but once again thanks for the advice. it wasnt warming up properly because the thermo was fucked

just out of interest, was i right in thinking the RSi has something similar on it ?

im doing my valver thermostat on tuesday, it warms up fine but its got a low temp one in and it doesnt get hot enough for the blowers to blow any proper heat as it keeps using the rad all the time, brilliant for summer but not in this weather

yeah mate mine was on the passenger side under the dizzy. three 10mm holding it in place, it was easy enough to get off but one thing i would recommend doing is removing your header tank and giving it a good clean through with boiling water, the amount of orange sludge and crap that came out of mine!!! bottom hose on the rad was a b*****d too, even worse on a valver i would imagine.

my coolant system is actually very very clean

ive got a new exp tank, and new rad.......the coolant is actually the same colour it should be !

nice one just to let you know if you ever get a thermostat from euro car parts that they dont sell the new rubber gasket to go around it whihc i thought was abit s**t, have to use the old one which i am reluctant to do
