Think my Clutch is...

Slipping!! i rest my foot on the clutch..even tho its light pressure being made..the clutch dips and engine starts to rev!!

saxos etc its normal, but in clios i would say you might have a worn one, how many miles has it done?

You can get a new clutch from europarts only £35 its German made..which means it will last longer than a renault part that cost about £70 from europarts.

Hold the hand brake on, lift your foot of the clutch gradually if the 'bite' point is really high your clutch is on the way out..

new clutch from renault was £60+vat last time i ordered 1 for a 1.2 16v, its not really a hard job to change if you have the tools, if your paying labour then ben_p probably right with £300 ish

Get it up to 30mph on the flat and stick it into 5th, then floor it.
If the revs rise and the speed doesn't your clutch is fucked.

I have (helped) change one took two days but we didn't have a hoist.
A few of us lifted it back into place..and it was blinking heavy..even on such a small car.
Basically my legs were sticking out the top of the engine bay..as I was getting pulled in..lol.

If your going to get it changed make sure its a proper valeo one, the pattern ones aren't as good ime.

they arent too bad to do on the floor i did mine on the floor provided you have an idea of what you are doing you should be fine.
can do non sports on the floor in 3hrs.

as for it being heavy - try changing a clutch on a 3l capri with a cast iron bellhousing trying to lift that out on to your chest...

No one's mentioned holding the car on a hill on the clutch yet. Will do more damage to a clutch than resting your foot on the pedal...wouldn't it?

are the clutches on clios commonly quite high?

when i bought mine the guy said it had a new clutch put in, but the biting point was so high. is that just normal for clios?

Ok then... if you paid £35 then it was German...if you paid £65-70 it was French.
Not that it really matters..lol.

probably worth doing the clutch cable while your at it mate, i changed my clutch then done the cable a month later and what a difference it made to the pedal feel, much lighter!
