thinking of buying a laptop...

  Ford Fiesta
but as with any new machine, it will be an empty box when I get whereas ive got over 40GB of videos/music and programs on the desktop.

How easy will it be to transfer some of the videos/photos/folers across and how can it be done?

Also how easy will it be to set it up for wireless internert access theough the broadband desktop connection?

Also anyway of copying programs across or will they have to be re purchased/downloaded etc?

thanks,
Liam

1) The best way is to connect the hard drive of the old machine to your new machine but this is harder with a laptop hard drive. The other main option I would say is buy a USB hard drive and transfer all the data that you want onto that.

2)Not too sure what your getting at with the wireless but's not usually that hard, it's just the same as you did the desktop if you've done that already.

3)Some programs let you copy across but as a rule you can't, this is because when programs install they add values to the registry and these won't be copyed across when you drag and drop from the old hard drive.
