thinking of getting a machine

Top one is the one i have, Good bit of Kit.

Personally not had any experiance of Sonus Kit, however I did alot of reading before purchasing mine and general opinion was that the Sonus Compounds were not much cop.

They hard to get the hang of and be able 2 use?
Like i dont even know what the products that come with it do and how i would use them :o

they are easy to use mate. The DaveKG guide that J posted is perfect. I'd go for the menzerna polish option though. Get used to the machine, presure, amount of polish etc and you'll be fine.

Top kit would be fine to start out mate; be careful that you'll be buying smaller backing plates and pads in no time though!

You'll also need some decent non-tack masking tap (3M blue) and some dedicated MF cloths.

I've found it fairly tricky to get the hang of if I'm totally honest. It took me a while to gain the confidence to really ramp up the speed and not worry about something flying off and breaking (my first backing plate broke...). Also, I've found that it takes serious work to get decent correction with a dual-action.

However, it will improve the condition of your paintwork even if you can't totally rid your car of swirls...

For noobs definately go fo the Menzerna package. The polish and pads are a lot more durable then others.

Just read that whole guide and fair play it helps alot!
Cheers for the help people!
Think i will go for the top one and just add on some product when needed!

slippery slope, before you realise it you've bought sooooo much stuff and you never use them.lol. good luck with the new detailing stuff though mate.

Go to the scrapyard and buy a panel or two to practice on. I actually rate the sonus kit very much. As long as you let the compound break right down then the finish can be excellent.

I have the standard 1.2 front wings, front and rear bumper spare to play with so i think i should be all good for prac material :)

The Menzerna pads are the 'best' at cutting via DA, but they tend to be quite brittle, so if you work them a too hard, they will start to break up on you.

As such, I'd recommend Menz compounds and Sonus Pads for a beginner.

I started out with sonus polishes and pads, the only criticism I have is the bottles of polish are too small really.

Just ordered a Kestrel DAS-6 myself today from I4Detailing.

Matt has some really good offers on them at the moment.
