Fancy getting into a bit of photography, and was thinking about ordering this bundle. Would this be ok for a first DSLR?

I can only comment on the kit lens (18-55) which is actually quite useful. I use a 600D which is my first DSLR and love it if I'm honest. I'm no expert but just do lots of research first and even pop in to Jessops to try a few cameras out.

Go and have a feel of the camera, if you feel comfortable with it f not try others out dont just order online like Jay said pop in and try them out

A second hand 550d would be a much better investment imo.

Don't worry about the bag/memory card - you can get them dirt cheap on ebay

I got a 550D last Monday and can say it's an awesome camera, I'm also a first-timer into DSLR's

The stock 18-55mm lens feels good, and I'm currently looking at getting a 50mm and a 55-250mm!

I can't say I've used that camera, but you won't go wrong with Canon.

However, I did a lot of research before buying over Nikon Vs. Canon and at that price range, the Nikon alternatives are apparently better...

If you can, I'd try spend the extra to get a 550D, personally.

That's what I did and I don't regret it.
