Thinking of purchasing a clio, can anyone give me some advice?

Hi all,

im new to this forum so first of all, my names jack, I'm 18 years old and live in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

i recently viewed a 2002 Renault Clio 1.4 16V Dynamique.

I am very interested in buying it, the owners seem very genuine and are going to provide the following:

12 months MOT

£100 off the asking price to renew the tax

4 brand new tyres

A full valet

A full service

And the phone number and address of their local mechanic so that I can back up any work done

The car is in lovely condition and drives great. However it has covered 95000 miles. The Cambelt and timing belt were done at 75000 and it has full service history to back this up.

I was just wondering seeing as it has done 95000 is it worth buying or is it likely to let me down?
The asking price is £1100

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Why are they effectively throwing about £300+ away trying to sell it to you??

Providing it's been serviced on time (12,000 miles or 12 months If my memory serves me well) it will do you fine. They're good engines. My sisters driving instructor (I sold it to him) has a 52 plate 1.4 16v with 170k on it.

I paid £950 for my 1.4 16V 2 years ago @ 72k miles with no tax, belt just done. Mines now on 103k and is going pretty well!
Like mentioned above, regular servicing, care and maintenance will see the car staying well.

Providing it's been well maintained and serviced accordingly then there shouldn't be an issue.

I had a 1.2 clio a few years ago, sold it to a mate with 108,000 on the clock. He's still got it now, running as sweet as ever with 150k on the clock.
