thinking of upgrading my engine

i have a 2000 1.4 sport but im thinking of putting a new engine in so it has more poke was just wondering can anyone recommend what size engine i could put into it and before anyone asks im a woman so sorry if its a dumb question lol

id sell and buy a faster car,i mean u can buy a 172 for under 3k and with that u get everything like the brakes,suspension and the extras like interior etc that goes with it,it would work out cheaper doing that - and thats from experience!
