this has just snapped. it now will not start. please help

just above the oil filter on a ph1 172. not sure what it is. please someone let me know. car will not start.

it was half hanging off so i went to push it on and it came off. damn!!!!!!

please help

right i have removed it. could i do a temporary fix and solder the lugs back together?

tried it. no good couldnt get the solder to stick to the tiny metal lugs. car is gonna be economical for the next few days as i will have to walk to work!!!!!!

i would bridge the 2 wires and see if it starts (albeit it with an innacurate/disabled knock reading).

But amongst thinking im quite good with electrics i have a hisotry of frying ECU's so try at your own risk

EDIT: realised it might be just a single wire, touch it to earth and see if the car starts instead

ummmm. think i will give that a miss. thanks anyway, i can go without it for a few days. thankfully im working at a different office next week. so only about 20 min walk.

just to let ppl know renault in bristol was £26+vat for sensor and £25+vat for a new bit of loom as they changed the plug.
