This vs a 182 manifold

  Ph1
Whats folks opinions on this ?? Would it be as good as using a 182 manifold on a 172 ??

By a fan elbow union you keep clear more torques in the middle speed range. A performance increase which one feels

Here's my spare mk2 manifold.
There is a small difference but would it be as good at making extra gains as a 182 one ??

its not much different and its still a crappy 4-1
the 182 item is 4-2-1

no wonder the brake fluid boils over if you top it to the max mark! that ressy is way too close, i've always thought it, don't care what anyone says, its in the wrong place

no 182 mani will be better

the pipe runs are a tiny bit better in the pic originally posted, but not much

remember the 172 was originally designed to be a left hand drive, on a LHD 172 the brake master cly is next to the pas res on the right hand side of the bay as you look at it

Dont bother, its not a very good design, and the primaries appear to be smaller, plus if the gasket in the pic is incorrect and wont help at all.

They want £366 for the top manifiold.

Only problem with a 182 manifold they arnt easy to make fit to a 172.

Anyone know if there's any company's planning to make a straight bolt in 4 - 2 - 1 manifold ??

i should'nt think so, biggest prob is length a 4-2-1 has to be longer in this instance and therefore you would always need to mod the cat pipe

  Lionel Richie
you have to remove the 172 original CAT too

easiest way is to just use a straight decat type pipe (it'll cost you £50-£70 to have made) to "fill the gap" between the 182 manifold and the 172 exhaust

then change it back for MOT, i thought 'bout it, even got the 182 item, but i really can't be bothered doing all the work twice a year (in and out). drop subframe ect. got better things to do. i suppose with further thought you could run 182 manifold, 182 cat and custom build from there back, but then your talkin' ££'s

i take trucks & busses apart (and put them back together sometimes :clown: ) for a living.
don't like lifting spanners in my spare time -it gets in the way of my drinking !

yep, but i would'nt ask it, the ministry is very promenant in my area. and considering the number of vehicles i test each week (car & commecial) i would'nt want to ruin my special relationship with my favorite testers. criptic answer i know, but i think you get the idea

that just looks like a replica 172 manifold (with some dodgy looking welds)

How can you comment on the quality of the welds from a piccy like that? you cant even see them!

thats just penetration, but why are we adding sections?

No, stainless changes colour like that due to heat. By definition you wouldnt be able to see penetration from the surface.
They will have added sections because the bender they have cannot cope with the tight radii needed.

I have built stainless exhauats before ;)

me too, and i don't like that one!
-well i must admit its not so much built, but repaired!
i agree with fred on the welds, i don't like 'em. mig looks crap on an exhaust anyway, especially an aftermarket one

you can see the shite welds round the header pipes on the flange

i can weld pretty bloody well, and thats crap
