Just to let you know we had our first baby on Saturday morning, baby Amelia.

I am going to capture her daily life religiously, so expect lots of boring "Baby shots" to be coming your way!!!!
I will try to keep them in this thread only - expect lots of Strobist action!

A funny thing happened as I returned in the morning from when my gf gave birth. She had "an excuse" for a photographer at her bedside, badgering her to have some "PROFESSIONAL" baby pics taken...we can do this, we can do this , and we can do this............any way the couple next to us in the ward spent £130 !!!! on 5 10x8 images!!!!!!!!
The woman asked me if I would like some taken, as she stands there with her D40, I said only if your camera can produce better results than mine lol....she said "well this is a high level Professional camera, able to take high quality photos"....alright love......Here are my two, now piss off ( Had both D3's, with me+SB900's, 14-24mm,70-200mm,70-200mm, Pocket wizards, soft box.......

To the rest of you I am not a camera "snob" and understand that everyone can't afford pro bodies, but when a slimmey little wannabe walking around to vulnerable people demanding extortionate sums of money, for a service that is shockingly "crap" I get wound up.

Top Tip, never go into labour when you have a Documentary photographer with you, I could not stop clicking away....
None of these shots were flashed either, most were on 3200 iso, auto WB

Congratulations! Lovely shots of the birth too. I'm amazed that the hospital have a photographer trying to sell photos, seems a bit odd to me. At least you put her in her place.

LOL!! Thats awesome, Im no snob either, but £130 for so little taken with an entry level camera is shocking!! I bet it had a kit lens on too + pop up flash?

I get a few people round here using "Bridge cameras" who sit there and rhyme off why their camera is better than mine, and i never bite .. might adapt that fisher price line! It really has got a tear rollin down my cheek

Not a baby person myself, but my Dad took HUNDREDS of photos of us as kids.. Enjoy it. You'll soon get bored and be asking when she's moving out after Uni
