How much success did you have?

Was there much left at the end?

Excluding aftermarket bits, can you give an idea of what you made from it?

How much of your stuff was shipped and how much collected in person?

My Clio is for sale, and after the gearbox needs replacing I'm contemplating whether it may be more economical for me to break it rather than fixing the gearbox and trying to sell it afterwards, seeing as I have the space, know how and time to do it.

My only issue is that I'm on the Isle of Wight, so collections would probably be unlikely, however shipping isn't really much more expensive, if at all.

But it's a major pain. You get 8000 PM's about it. Who all tell you they'll have something in the far future when they get paid or when the Sun next orbits Saturn.

Someone did it recently and said he'd never do it again.

But how much is the box going to be? Your 182 as it is, is probably worth £4k? Seems silly to break it as you'll never get that, even if a box costs you a grand.

I can't sell mine for £3200 - no one wants a high mileage Renault, much less a sporty one.

The box is only £175, but with shipping its up to £225 and then a day of skinned knuckles and swearing. If I could achieve £3k by breaking, I'd do it.

such a farse breaking a car. a mate of mine set about breaking his mint 162hp VTS. he had loads of interest so he sold his freshly rebuilt engine. then everyone who wanted the other parts bailed leaving him with a car to sell with no engine............
