Seen as this is full of camera buffs.

Been offered a D40 with standard lens and UV filter for £185 I am a complete beginner and what to play DSLR's

Its a year old, very little use - basically brand new and the standard kit lense is un-used as the guy had another lense on there

Should I bite his hand off or hold fire?

Didn't get this one, but bagged another one with a load more kit for £190 with less than 2000 shutter applications.

So prepare to see some shocking photography from me!
