Throttle body mechanism

My mate has been told by a garage that he has a problem with his throttle body mechanism and that it will cost £300 to get it sorted. Can you not just fit a new throttle body? as i dont think they are coded or anything?

apparently they're easy to fit. Why does he need a new one? what was happening? You can pick up used ones for £50ish from salvage companies or ebay

mech as its an electronic throttle (faults on my car!)

Four ashes renault (cliospares) will supply you a throttle body for about £50, its a striaght swap. My old 1.6 went through 3! (luckily all under warrenty) you have to keep them clean or problems will occur.
