Throttle bodys

  Dodgy one
Ive just put a quote through on K-tecs website to see how much is will cost to get them fully fitted as i cant be arsed doing it myself lol

Using K-tec throttle bodys is there any performance difference between theirs and Yozzas or the likes, Thing thats attracted me to K-tec is they dont cut half the slam panel away to allow fitment like Yozzas

I was at K-Tec today and looking at their demo 172, its awesome! Sounds fantastic and its apparently running 215ish bhp with just ITBs, no cams, etc.

PM Adeyspec Racing as he had the 1st kit from K-Tec. I think its from Omex as they fitted it all for him.

After hearing that, i too want some itb's

I thought omex only supplied the new ecu for the ktec tb kit?

I'm fairly certain Omex supplied everything as he has been taking it back to them regularly for them to fiddle with and write a decent manual!

on another note im pretty sure yozzasport doesnt have to cut the slam panel up if u dont want it to be.

Think it depends on trumpet length.

Yaaah! The yozza ones ive seen have all been cut on the panel, I guesss bic could supply some nice shorter carbon ones, But a shorter trumpet reduces reduce torque?

Ive just been listening to GDis demo car on youtube and ive not gone from 70% wanting them to 100% a N/A engine revving its tits off sounds so much better than a turbo or charger

i think GDI are the only ones who do direct to head itb's, which are supposed to release the full potential

look at there demo car too 231bhp on a single enlarged tb

imagine whaty they can do with four!

I thought the DTH bodies were junked due to being not very good for some reason?

Yep, they were never finshed and rushed into production on the Clio's, hence being shite.

SBV116 has a very very special ITB install.

Standalone ECU (VEMS,OMEX,Emerald etc etc) Loom, Jenvey throttle body kit to suit RS(Manifold, linkages, injectors etc www.jenvey.co.uk) You'll have to remove the A/C too if you wanted simplicity, airbox, cable throttle pedal, throttle cable, coilpack bracket (standard one is attatched to the plenum) TDC adaptor to run 2 TDC sensors, tap a new coolant temp sensor into the coolant housing.

Thats it off the top of my head, obviously when you fit some, you'd come across anything else you need on the way!

^^ Saw that on Friday, my god it looks good. Such a tidy engine bay and very well designed.

omex do a kit, k-tec do a kit, gdi do a kit. They all use a omex 600 series ecu and jenveys. Looking into this myself at the mo, so made many a phone call as im hoping to get them too

  GDI Demo 182, Rsi Spider
you dont need 2 TDC sensors

you can keep air con with no problems with the kit

it can be fitted now by any decent mechanic, as it comes as a turn key kit

Adey has one of the Ktec kits, his car made 36bhp over std on powerstations rollers and has now got 5bhp more....

You take a feed from the TDC though dont you? Which makes the TDC read half or something along those lines. Using 2 means you still get a full TDC signal and the feed for whatever you tap into the TDC for.

Your kit can retain A/C, if bought direct from Jenvey though, would you still be able to keep the A/C with te longer trumpets?

use a better sensor ;) it's included in the kit

The extras you get are things to fit the bodies and ECU in the best way, tailored loom, CNC and anodised bracketry, clips, fasteners and everything to fit the bodies so you dont have to find anything for yourself. The jenvey parts are what has been selected and tested to perform the best on the standard clio engine (with regard to sizes, tapers and trumpets) from the jenvey range. You could buy all the bits you need separate (not the bracketry as that's exclusive), but it would genuinely cost at least as much and probably more to source all the bits yourself. You wont be able to get a tailored loom (only 3 wires need to be joined) unless it's with one of the kits

and the ecu still fitted in the engine bay :(

that kit is 95% there, just if only the ecu was out of the way in the glovebox

(yeah i know the arguements, it would just look 100000times neater)

I know mate, I'm not criticising! He asked what he'd need to fit a set of bodies, I just gave a list of what I could think of. TBF, I wasn't far off ;)

Mine's under the passenger seat. Bo.

could still be done if you really wanted I guess. Didn't I help you (or might have been Stu) cut the holes in Yoz's bulkhead to get the wires through? very vague memory of it as it was so long ago.

End of the day it's a kit designed to be quick and easy to fit, cutting holes (as there's no hole big enough as standard) makes it a bit of a pig. There's no issue with the standard ECU being in the bay, so the Omex is just fine there too :)

if mine was under my seat it would have been drowned in water, haha

i know there's no issues, yoz's was in the bay

i've only ever seen one really neat install, and that was the first ever uk TB'd 172 (roamers)

that was done by chris from power engineering (now at torque of the devil)

he's doing my V6, and even though you really won't see much, i'm making him put the ecu in the glovebox and hide all the wires

  ITB'd MK1
must have been another one, defintely done it and it wasn't nice.

Sounds like damned hard work on a vee, the rear bulkhead would be quite a nice place but i guess the glovebox has the advantage of easy plug in access

also factor in mapping if you go the solo route of buying the bits separately. that could cost you anywhere from 250-500 depending on the quality of job you want.

get the kit off k-tec or gdi ect and the ecu comes ready mapped with a very good cal in it that works straight out the box.. its just plug and play. couldnt be any easier tbh

Thread Bump :)

Whos is the easiest to fit and the cheapest ?

As i see nothing on Gdi's website :(

Or have they pulled the sale of them for good ? :(

The kit offered by GDI, KTEC, OMEX is the same, just sold under the different brand names!!!

SBV116's setup is pure engine p**n tbh
