Throttle cable and lightened flywheel

As far as I'm aware these parts would improve throttle response but can they be used on their own as a cheaper and temporary modification or do they 'have' to be used in conjunction with things like a new ecu or cams etc?

What are the individual costs of these parts and are they readily available or do they have be custom made?

Thanks guys

what car?if your on about a 172 you can buy a cable conversion kit from renault sport,i'd say the lightened flywheel would only be a worthwhile mod if the box had gotta come off for anything

I've got a 182 Trophy. When you say box, you mean the gearbox right?

cable conversion kit? the mk1 cable kit is £200 ish i think, dont you need an omex/loom (£700)? anything else? robbery for us phslows eh

As said above its only worthwhile getting flywheel done if you have the box off,you also lose a bit of torque and its easier to stall it.Advantages are better pick and more engine braking when using gears to slow down

Hmmm.....I might need to rethink this if there's going to be torque loss.

According to Nick @ Hillpower it's £300. Which is pretty good.

If you want improve throttle response get a GrpN ECU - one of the things it does is open the throttle much quicker. Has completely changed my 172.

I think you mentioned this before mate.

Seems cheap to me though. You would need a new ECU, new throttle body, new accelerator pedal and all brand new from Renault for £300.

Just wondering if anyone had anymore info on it.

its nearer the £400 mark mate but yes everythings with it from renault sport, the only thing i'm not sure about is if it comes with an idle control valve,i will know a bit more shortly

mk1 172 loom onto a mk2 car, mk1 172 tb (+plenham maybe)

i think the ecu is the same (or can be reprogrammed to work)

you dont loose torque with a lightened flywheel.

there may be a reduction in mass moment of inertia which would be seen as a loss of "surge" when driving up a hill, or during engine braking but this is in no way detrimental to performance.

my stock fly is lightened as much as physically possible, and there is no problem with any of the above.
