Throttle pedal question

Hi can anyone tell me if the throttle pedal and throttle body are the same on the 172 cup as they are on a 182?

I'm getting limp home issues so I want to replace these parts to rule them out.

Have had the codes read and it pinpoints these two parts.

Thanks

  dan's cast offs.
nope, different due to cruise control/speed limiter override. pretty sure you can use 182 on the cup though?

Ah ok thanks, so can you use the 182 parts on the cup but not the other way round? i.e cruise wouldn't work on the 182 if you fitted parts from a 172 cup?

I have ordered a used throttle body from a 182 and was hoping to fit it on my cup :-S

Ah oh thanks I’ll see how I get on with the throttle body first and hope it stops the limp home mode :(

Chances are the problem will be in the wiring, either corroded or broken.
There must be 101 threads on limp mode on this forum alone.

Thanks, yes I’ve read some threads where they mentioned the wiring. Seems more common on the cup? What’s the name of the specialist you recommended that are used to sorting this issue?

Seeing as you are located in LEZ, I have a spare throttle pedal I could lend for elimination purposes.
Mick at Diamond Motors in Long Eaton is your man.
TBH, it a problem common to all Ph2`s, regardless of engine size, as they all very similar wiring in that fuse box area.

Nice one cheers mate. I’ll let you know how I get on after fitting the throttle body soon, would also be good to test with a different pedal thanks

PM me if you would like to borrow the pedal.
Chances are it wont make any difference, as the previous owner of my car bought both NEW pedal & body, and then sold the car to me in disgust.

Did you ever find out what the problem was ?

Yes it turned out to be the throttle body :)

I bought a used one for £20, fitted that and haven’t had this issue again. I have done about 1000 miles since I fitted it.

The error code and limp mode can still be due to a few potential issues though so this may not be the cause and the cure of your particular issue I.e it could be the pedal or even the wiring.

If it’s of interest, this is what the diagnostics showed when I used to have this issue:

Ahh okey, i tried another throttle house and didnt work :( Also checked all wires, changed pedal. Cut the one connector near the pedal and sodded on insted. Nothing seems to fix it. :(

That sounds a right pain. You could try another throttle body in case the one you bought was also faulty? Members on here are very helpful and someone local might even swap one over to rule it out.

If not it sounds like a Renault specialist needs to take a look!

Got it at a renault specialist. Im from Norway, so dont think its so many here that can help with a throttle body :( And, ofc! Its the rare kind for the electric pedal 1.2 8cyl in black plastic! Found 1 in europe used. And Renault dont make them anymore!
