Tick over but won't fire up

Hi all, I have an Renault sport clio 172 and this morning I came out to go to work and when I tried to start my car it would tick over fine but no matter how many times I turn the key it just won't start! Any ideas guys?

If it won't start, it isn't ticking over. Ticking over is a term normally used when an engine has started and is idling.

I presume you mean the engine TURNS over (as in the starter motor kicks in and spins the engine) but the engine fails to start?

Yes thank you for that, the engine turns over but does start up

back to basics then, check for fuel and spark

Ok I will check after work, with the fuel delivery is there anything I should be looking out for? E.g fuses

Havent got an aftermarket alarm with an imobolizer, thats faulty, im not sure if this would cause the issue tho.

Mine did this, randomly. Not all the time though

It was my fly wheel sensor

Iv got my car booked in at a Renault specialist for Friday, they advised me to try my spare key for the mean time
