Ticking Noise

I've got a feeling I know what everyone is going to say but I just wanted to check!

Just went out and started the car and there is a hollow ticking sort of noise coming from the left hand side of my engine. Would this be the dephaser starting to go or could it be something else?

I dont have one!

Its definately coming from the engine. Bloody car is doing my head in at the moment!

Well I can see from a few theads on here that it could be a loose spark plug so I'm going to try that tomorrow evening.

Is there a good way of checking if it is the dephaser pulley?

Also mine sounds nothing like some of the videos posted on here for dephaser pulleys. You can barely hear mine at all.
