Time to change gearbox?

two guys, one expierenced one not, two column lift available any idea's on time needed?

Did mine on my back on the drive on axel stands in about 10 hours on my own. So it recon you can easily shave a few hours off that a with a lift and an extra pair of hands.

gonna book a lift for a Saturday with runout to Monday then (Monday is my day off)
Hoping to have the box in, so I will only have to finish the ittle bits if needed.

I'd personally not bother with the lift if your going to have to pay for it.

It's more than doable on the floor, it's actually possible to lift the box out the top

i'm nearing 50......a lift is what I need if I want to sit up straight the rest of the week....?

I must admit, after the last gearbox/clutch job I did on the drive on a 1.7cdti astra i was in pain for a good week after that!

Sod trying to take it out from the top, would love to see someone do it that way!!!!!!!

On a ramp with two of you 5 hours or so.
My personal best for a change on one with sump guard and skid plate was 2 hours 35 minutes and that was with curry rice and chips thrown in as well ☺

Pretty sure it was him.

I did it that way as I couldn't be arsed with the subframe bolts spinning.

Was a case of remove basically everything, inlet plenum, ecu etc and there's just enough room to maouver it out.

If I was to do it again id probably drop the subframe as it was a massive pain to be honest.

i'll be going the subframe route, also because i'll be finally be mounting @NorthloopCup 's RCCK...(the shame of it!!!!) as most of the suspension will be be loose/off anyway.

the kit was made for 40mm lowering, you'd have to do some drawing to see what it does on less or more of a drop.

Couldn't tell you tbh, but i'd imagine so. On a standard car it would seem pointless as Renault would have designed the suspension geometry to work effectively at standard ride height.
