Time to spend some cash on the old girl

Well, I was going to replace the clio with something like a GT TDi or BMW 330D. But on my 60mile a day commute that I have recently started, my Ph1 has been giving me 40mpg (even with a lambda light on), so it looks like she is staying.

However, I want to freshen her up, so the list is as follows:-

Belts and dephaser
Full service
New gearbox mount and tighten up top mount (already has powerflex dogbone)
New discs and pads all round
Braided lines
Stainless system
RS Tuner/Remap

Possibly thinking 197 cams if the belt is being changed.

Then might consider a full Ph2 interior swap, inc dash

Good decision. Can't understand the logic of some people that spend a few grand on a newer tdi to save a minimal amount of fuel a week. Unless you do a LOT of miles the numbers don't stack up.

Also you'll be smiling while driving the 172 which counts for a lot ime!

Put some ATE Superblue brake fluid in there while you're at it

Good maps claim to give you even better MPG too - personally think around 40mpg is an amazing figure for a car with the performance figures of a 1*2, especially given their age now.

Take it you're partial to a ph1? Personally I'd just sell/p/x up to a nicer spec 182 rather than making all those changes, but if you prefer a ph1 then fair enough.

Because of you I'm probably going to measure my roof tomorrow, damn you!

Mwahahhahaha. It can easy be done in one piece. I wouldnt spunk hundreds on the real deal though, just to end up with a lasses heel marks in it. Get some faux s**t off ebay.

That was the plan. But if I got 1000 for mine, then added up the 1200 or so its gonna cost to get mine sorted, its not viable. Ive viewed a few 172/182s this last couple of weeks and they are all dogs. Ive got bored so gonna stick with mine.
