tips on selling a car

  ValverInBits
This is getting ridiculous now.

I've been trying to sell my valver for ages now. There is nothing wrong with the car, and i havent even had 1 viewing. A few phone calls but no-one turned up.

It's been on autotrader online, it's been on ebay (bids were a joke) and it's still on PH.

How do you sell a hot hatch in the middle of a petrol crisis? It's in good nick.
Downsides are, it's not running the original engine (but the new engine is amazing for a standard one) and it's got some arch rust.

are local papers any good for a car like this?

It looks fine, but the description you've written might put me off a little, TBH. I'd keep it brief and not go into the detail about it. Try £995, the fact the price is below 1,000 might be more attractive rather than a price just above.

Hope it helps!

My old valver wasn't on it's original engine when I sold it, the car was on about 90k, the engine gave up on me (well the oil pressure pump went & seized the engine) So I had it swapped for one on 60k, had no probs selling the car, first to come round bought it & I got top dollar for it.

Good luck with the sale bud.

Try selling any car at the moment! I'm selling mr punto, which is a small economical diesel car, should sell easy right?

I've had 2 calls, both of which left messages with my dad on my home number instead of calling my mobile. I've called them both back twice, and no answer, and not returned my call!

car market has crashed mate. just bought myself a motorbike but hangin onto the clio for now as i wont get a bean for it at the mo.

think you'll either have to cut the price down to what people are willin to pay (which is next to nothin) or hold on to it until the economy stabalises.

good luck tho mate

I'm about 3 miles from silvertone in northamptonshire. If a CS user offered me £900, I couldn't refuse.

It's on clio16valver (good forum BTW) but not much interest to date. May relist and new lower price.

Cheers for the reply mate. If I could double my 'toy' budget then Id be having this!!

Its easily worth £900 if not more in my book. I dont think the problem lies with the car, its just the market these days

Point8, are you desperate to sell? When I'm finished with the M3, I'm going hunting for a Valver.

Although I won't be finishing with the M3 until end of september ish.

we've recently tried to sell a car on autotrader, and found out why we had no interest after the 2 weeks were up. If you use there telesafe option to block out canvassers, anyone ringing up gets a message letting them know that the phone call will cost 50p a minute... any sensible person would put the phone down after hearing that.

Its to expensive IMo with the way the media is showing the credit crunch and fuel prices.

Even before this its still IMO to much.
