Granted an 02 172 ain't worth £9k but its worth more than that, more like ~£5.5-6k.
If they were that cheap i'd have one as the other 3k would have payed for the insurance!

No, but I do think people on here tend to live in a dream world when it comes to valuing their cars. I've said this before and I'll say it again now. 172's don't sell for what they should be worth. For some reason people just won't pay the proper prices and the sellers drop their prices. So 172's up for sale for what they should be going for, never sell. Obviously this £3100 is a bit of an extreme case, but is shows that there are real bargain 172's out there meaning it's very very hard or impossible to sell for a decent price.

Ahh I see, has done a fair few miles though and look how dirty the engine bay is (not a problem I know but it'd put me off). Still someone got a good deal.

Look at the mileage on it !!!! 95k plus the climate is broken.
No wonder it went for so little (as said the seller should have put a reserve in it at least) It sounds like a dog though tbh :evil:

Book price on a 2002 172 in good condition private sale is something like £6200 i think but i have seen them go for more than that. 172 cups on a 02 plate go for near 7k

A car is worth what someone will pay for it. personally he was lucky to get £3100 for that as i imagine it would cost a good 2-3k to sort it out if its knackered and not been looked after. I still reckon a 40k miler with FRSH and a minter would be worth 6k+.

Trade garages have them on the forecourts round noth west area for £7500 and they are shifting them, albeit slowly but they do sell

i paid 4200 for a my 51 plate 1.2 dynamique, it has 62k on the clock I think i overpaid a little but its in v good nick and was lady owned just up and down the motorway.
