To make a bad day worse (clutch has gone)

FFS, clutch has gone now in a blaze of blue smoke, (was in seccond going 15mph up a hill when it started slipping like a mo fo) AA came out and got me home + did a report.

23k miles, will renault cover this one under warranty (AA man reckons they should)??

Last year when they had it in for a seat rattle, a friend of mine witnessed one of their mechanincs ragging the nuts off it on the dorset way. I put a complaint in and the mechanic said he drove it hard but never exceeded the speed limit (yea right). I will claim they did the damage I think. I have also mentioned clutch judder on previous occasions but it was ignored.

Mods feel free to move this to mechanical forum if necessary.

lol yeah right mate cos youve never driven it hard or ragged it, if hed done the damage "last year" surely it wouldve gone long before now!!

Lol yea, still should be fit for purpose though, and there is a difference between driving it hard and ragging the clutch. The way it went it could have caused a serious accident if I was at a roundabout etc. Appart from the juddering it hasnt shown any sign of slippage until now.

Going by what you said I would have thought it would be covered under warranty but I dont think you can try to blame it on one person ragging the car on one occasion.

LOL, I know that :D Depends how co-operative the dealer is though when I speak to them tomorrow. Going off past experience that is.

Feck - this has got me worried now. Set off this afternoon and felt the clutch judder like a right mofo. I always take it easy with clutches (managed 65k on my GT!) yet my 182 hasnt even done 9k....

Whats the next stage of the Dodgy Clutch Lifespan? Should I be expecting total failure soon?

D.

LOL, no idea, I have always noticed judder when balancing and engaing on hills since I had it at 4k miles. Every time it had been in I mentioned it and they said it was fine, which in my dealers renault speak meant "our monkey took it out, ragged the nuts off it round the block and it seemed ok to him".
