To weld or replace

  Ph1
Finally got round to getting my blowing exhaust checked today.

The Magnex centre section is blowing right the way round the silencer area where the pipe section comes out, big crack, due to me bouncing it off a rogue speed bump a month back.

Is it wise to get it welded back up or is it best to replace the whole section??

Does stainless weld take ok or will it always run the risk of breaking back off?

cheers

just get it welded. if its done properly it will last... they will do it for less than 20 quid.... of free if your lucky ;)

You'll be lucky.... Most places charge a minimum of an hours labour charge.... probs £45 odd.

I'm going to tig my Pro-Speed back together and add in a few design changes to improve it. Only to sell it on mind. lol.

Stainless will re-weld fine.

free welding? wheres that then?

if he says the weld failed and they can't prove its his fault....

well my local exhaust place took a blowing exhaust on my van, cut out a 6 inch section and replaced it with some stainless pipe and welded it up for 25 quid.... good job as well..

Does it not have a life time grantee??

Thats a damn good point mate !

Its cracked at the back of the silencer (facing the axle) and the front and underneith is undented / fine so really it shouldnt be blowing or have cracked like it has.

I'll have a look into it

tbh i doubt you got a leg to stand on, your just wasting everyones time. Youve hit it off a speedbump and its broke, get it repaired or buy a new one. Pointless trying to get money or a new one off magnex if youve smashed it off speed bumps as they aint stupid
