To wrap or not to wrap?

Anyway, got a 182 manifold. Was going to heat wrap it but someone told me it could get wrotten and moldy etc. The advise was to paint it with the paint variant of manifold heat wrap.

i cant imagine it going moudly mate, those manifolds get hot and stay hot for quite a while, a bit of wet weather spray wont hurt it..

From the man himself

No point what so ever. It's good at causing engine bay fires and making up for piss poor design where radiated heat is causing local components to melt.... as such its a staple of the low volume sports car industry.

You don't need it, you don't want it and it won't do anything useful.

Not sure my Clio needs it looking at the cars on that front page: F1 and Supercars.

Will silicon spray not just evaporate after a while anyway :S

LOL!!!!! not WD40 type spray!!!

There's specific sealer spray that stops water getting into the wrap.

Did it to the GDI demo car as the bulkhead heatshield fell apart and wanted to protect the brake lines.
