Toe settings?

Anyone know the front and rear track widths on a Clio Trophy?

Plan on setting the toe myself with string and axle stands as i want to play with settings so not wanting to pay for it 3 or 4 times!

Any idea where i should start, see some peeps say parallel and others recommend toe out??

Also how much does the camber effect the toe, plan to run it about 1.5 on road then set it to max for track, guessing i would need to reset the toe again?

Expect lots more questions lol

Parallel was what I used for 3 yrs on track, tried others but always went back as Prefered the feel of the car.

10 minutes toe out works well. If you readjust the camber you will need to re do the alignment and you will see a rediculous amount of toe in.
Toe out is twitchy but gives nice turn in. It's all about what your used to though and that's where it comes down to personal preference.

Also how are you going to set the toe on axle stands? The car needs to be on the floor to do it.

The axle stands are to hold the pole which the string is attached too ;)

Anyone know the track widths then, can't believe i am the first to set it up this way!?

Your not the first! I do it DIY and have done for years - but I don't use string. I would rather do it myself with homemade gear than pay £25 quid to any backstreet tyre fitter (due to not trusting who does it) but obviously it wont be as accurate as a proper alignment outfit who would ask for significantly more that that to get the camber and toe set properly.

Adding negative camber on bolts makes it toe in. I maxed out my camber when first fitting eibach bolts and my toe went from 1mm out (negative) to about 15mm toe in (positive).

I use steel straight edges attached to the wheel which I take direct distance measurements between. I use a £20 lazer level to sight towards the rear to ensure wheels are straight when steering wheel is straight. I use a tradesmans spirit level which I have found a way to attach to the rims to get an IDEA of what the camber is, is fine for ensuring it is equal accros axles at least - but easy to calculate approximate camber angle should this be an aim.

So no need to assume anything like track widths, which I guess you would like to know to get a parrellel run of string-line fore/aft? But the string method has been used by racers on a budget for years and some still do, apparently! So if you are clued-up and patient its great if you want to experiment and have the spare time to mess around.
