TomTom maps... How to create your own?

I'm trying to create my own TomTom map (of cycle routes).

Err... I've recorded lots and lots of GPS co-ordinates (and the corresponding OS grid reference).... how do I go about creeating my own TomTom maps from them?

:D

You can get an app that lest you load in an OS map image and uses gps from there.

Do you have the krussel case/bike clip?

Not yet, I'll be getting one (for my new E65).

I'd be very interested in that OS map application Tom...

...or even an application that allows me to create an "overlay" for my TomTom GB map.

I'm sure I'll crack it... I just need to keep going through ideas... anyways, how on earth do you manage to know SO much about all of this stuff? :D

dont crash.

I just managed to convert all my GPS co-ordinates into an "SDWay.ov2" (POI) file.

I then added the "SDWay" POI to a blank itinerary file, which automatically then added all each and every location stored in that category into the itinerary automatically!

All I need now is to switch the damn map off, so that it doesn't try to take me on the road!

At least it's progress. :)

PS Whilst I was collecting all this info, I had a bad off. I even made a note of the co-ordinates where my blood-stains were! :D

Hey Tom.

From the GPS points that I recorded (which aren't 100% accurate, but to the nearest 10m or so), I've managed the following:

1) TomTom POI (*.ov2), which one can use to roughly know where they're going (checkpoints if you like).

2) A *.kml Google Earth file, which just loads up, and you can see where the track goes, for reference (right click, SaveAs).

3) A *.png file, with the aim to actually create a TomTom map which one can follow juat as if it's a road.

Any comments? What do you think?

Impressive, how do you plan to transfer the data?

I have no idea.

I'm trying to figure-out the format of the TomTom data. So far I've not been able to decipher their maps.

There's viewranger software out there (quite cheap as it is), but I'd rather use what I already have & build something for the TomTom.

Update

I'm very impressed that for £30, and with some free software (nokia sports tracker) I've managed to do the following:

Unbelievable accuracy once the GPS had warmed up. This is a route that I passengered on today.

We also went for a walk, and I managed to record that with no problems... apart from the the altitude data which was quite far off some times.

Yup, as tom said it's a link to a kml file. If you've got google earth installed it should open. Sorry if i didn't explain. Ps wifi in pubs is a brill idea!
