  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!

Ive had a 51plate 1.4 16v Dinamique now for about 2 months, my previous car was a citroen AX 1.0 that did 110 in 4th(top) gear.

my clio steams past the tonne but seems to stop at 110, is this the top speed of this motot or is there something slowing me down in the engine?

Well, I reckon 110mph is probably the top speed anyway?!

You need more power & torque to go faster...

and where do u intend to do more than 110 on the roads? not very safe now is it lol

110 seems a tad low but not really unreasonable

damn it, like the citroen had? maybe if i got the 5th gear taken out? lol
Well, the Citroens speedo was probably overreading for a start, the gearing is closer, it weighs less, etc...

hey thought i might annoy you a little by telling you that i also own a 1.4 16v dynamic +

i have got dead on 120mph out of mine and that was at the limit

before you all say what mods you got i have none you just need the right bit of road and patience.

steve.

i had a y reg 1.2 clio 16v sporty thing. and i got about 118 out of it. speedo must have been out.

got your number!!!

people dont believe me - but the highest speed i had out of my 1.2 16v was 127mph (indicated) in real life terms i believe this speed to be nearer to 110mph

hipychick and roamer can confirm that i achieved speeds in excess of 110mph as roamer passed me at 140mph on the A14 returning from York

so what would be the top end for a 1.6 16v clio 2 facelift cos i tried to get on the limiter in 5th but mount everest was unavaliable;)

exactly the same as the 1.2 16v and 1.4 16v, the gearbox ratios are exactly the same

and you need a good 15 miles of road to reach anywhere near top whack

i used the m25 at 3 in the morning :D

i tried on a hill on m4 the speedo said 132 but it must be out was doing just over 6000 rpm?

i tend to find mt cup will get to 130 quite easily but it takes a lot of road (or more than im willing to let it) to get above this.

I can get 113mph and it was still going...Came up on a car so slowed down big style! Had 3 folks in the car, plus fairly loaded.

Oh yes! The Analogue speedo on a car is soooo correct!! Im sure all 1.0 car can do 110mph! :D

It take lots and lots on power to push any production car much faster than what it was built to do.

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo

I got 103mph out of a 1.0 205 and 101mph out of a 1.3 Escort and 125 in a VTR then I bought a decent car!

im not kidding the Ax was doing 110, i also have had a 1.0 mini over 100 on a steep hill on the way to leeds. but im still sure the clio it being slowed.

its like i get to 100 on A and B roads overtaking and when i just drift off occasionally, but it just stops at 110, what would happen if i took the CAT off? i heard that if u took the CAT off a 2.0 calibra it gives it nearly 30bhp, surly this is to good to be true! i mean police cant tell if u have it on or not and you can just refit it for MOTs etc.

1. you will not gain 30bhp from a de-cat on a calibra
2. it is not illegal to remove the catalytic convertor
3. i can give you a video of the 1.2 16v 0-100, if your 1.6 doesnt get there quickly there is something seriously wrong with it

Decat it then improve the induction side of things. Should pull better top end and thus increase your top end.

No it wont!

You could have 500bhp in a Clio, but with the standard gearbox and standard rev limit, you will not gain any top end.

Dont think a standard 1.4 is goin to be even close to hitting the lmiter in 5th! So by decat and good induction you might see a VERY slight increase in top speed.

Dont see any point myself, stick the money in the bank and put it towards something faster in the future.
