top mount or front mount intercooler?

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
which is best? if i fit a top mount id fit a chav scoop, i need a big intercooler as its a SC not a turbo. front space is tight though?

front mount for me, the words 'chav scoop' made the decision quite easy lol

gotta love them peeking through the gaps in the front bumper

Cut your centre x member out. Make a suitable front mount for your cooler and then weld it onto the sections which remain on the old x member. Then strengthen the surrounding front panel.

no - those leather pants you had on the other night with the arse cut out, walking into that Gay bar with "stick it here" tattooed onto the cheek of your arse is dangerous

front mount intercooler, rather than a top mount interwarmer.

with my impreza you can see the heat haze coming out of the vent when sitting still. they are crapola!

im a bit confussed at this but why would you need a bigger intercooler for a supercharger rather than a turbo??

turbos are subject to exhaust gases and the extreme heat from them where as the supercharger is belt driven so doesnt come into contact with those gases??

superchargers dont need very large intercoolers,

top mounts are used to reduce lag caused by all the extra pipework needed to front mount, (hence why the subaru has a topmount)

you could use a chargecooler as this would elimainate any lag whilst still avoiding a bonet scoop, imo that'd be the best route to take when supercharging as the main point of a sc is the lack of lag.

that was exactly my thinking. plus they are not to produce as much boost generally as a turbo would so another reason not to need a large intercooler.

chargecooling is a good option butnot the cheapest. New c/c's are about the £500-£600 mark. you can pick them up second hand you are unaware of how efficient the pump is if the rad is still in good order and if the cooler itself is still in good nick or not leaking. generally tho they are fine and ive never had a prob with second hand ones.

or you could just buy a smaller air to air intercooler (grill mount would be ideal like the Forge GTT one). that way you dont have allot of expenditure and you have a pretty short boost circuit

ahh gocha, was thinking removing aircon rad free's up a fair bit of room.... chop chop then and stay outa those leather pants ;)

im using a centrafugal charger, hence why i need a big rad, its been proven on GTs/vts's that with a centralfugal charger (rotrex SP30) the bigger the cooler the more power they made, if i was using a screw charger i could have a small interooler
