Top mounts

The nut on top in engine bay??

Need a good impact gun, or even an old style impact driver and hammer will do it.

Needs a good shock to loosen them off.

Trying with an impact gun tomorrow. I've honestly never had this much trouble removing a bolt before in my life. Unbelievable how tight it is.

Also it's done this.... Got bored of bending tools, so it killed itself

It's cracked on the left hand side (bit where Allen key goes in centre) driven me mad.

sweet lord whats going on with your strut housing? looks like a can openers been round it ?!? impact gun will whizz it off no probs ;-)

It is yeah. It's gone all funny because I've soaked my top mounts in wd40 since last Tuesday to try and loosen it up a bit and they've gone all weird because of the WD. Il just change them to KTR mounts sometime lol.

The idea is you are suppose to put an Allen key in the top to stop the strut from spinning whilst you undo the top mount with a offset ring spanner, that's the theory but reality is just put an impact gun on it and give it death.

Make sure the threads are clean, had a problem once the top mount got seized half way up so had to cut it with an angle grinder...

mine was spinning like a mofo with a breaker bar, some c**t had already destroyed the hex head so got the trusty 230v clarke on it. didnt take long and she was free.

Well managed to get them undone with a buzz gun! Finally.....!
Does anybody know the torque settings for the bolts on the bottom of the strut? Or is it okay to just do up as tight as I can?

Brilliant cheers mate! Tonight could be the night the springs finally get fitted! Only been in my boot for a week now.... -.-!

Put some copper grease on the thread to make things easier next time you need to undo the nut ;)

If you come cross stubborn bolts in future, I seriously recommend Plus Gas over WD40. Apply plenty on the nut & bolt assembly in question and leave over night - bingo!
