Torque Steer

  Renaultsport Clio 172

I have a Mk2 Phase 1 (I think! Its an X reg 2001) 172. This is my second having totalled the first. Anyway, the first was a Mk2 Phase 2 (51 plate) and I dont remeber it suffering as much from torque steer as Phase 1, especially on an uneven road/crossing white lines. It is fitted with Pilot Exaltos (I cant remeber what the Phase 2 had as I only had it amonth!) all round. Is this normal behaviour or should I start looking for dodgy components in the steering/suspension? I appreciate there is a hell of a lot of power in the front wheels but I had a Pug 306GTi6 previously and didnt have the problem there.

the 172 has a bit of torque steer and the phase 1 may be the worse of the two(any phase 1 owners comments would be helpful)as they do feel different to drive.you could check your front suspension/steering for play/movement in bushes, balljoints, track rods etc to be on the safe side.without actually driving the vehicle and feeling how much torque steer there is its difficult to comment but a bit of torque steer is how most of them are.
