torsion bar

Story
Fitted some apex springs & shocks to my mk1 recently. Had problems with the torsion bar so decided to take it to a garage to be done. Been to 10 different places this morning, ranging backstreet, cheap & cheerfull to big places like citroen. 8 of the 10 places say they would not do it, to much hasle. Citroen does it but charges £100, and a tuning garage does it and charges £130!

Are these prices right :S Sound very steap to me, I was expecting about 30 or maybe 40 quid! Ive seen a guide on the net and it doesnt seem to bad, but one guy at a garage said if its not done right the back end will be all over the place.

Any idea of what I can do?
Is there anyone on here that could do it for me? (obviously I'd pay)

Thanks,
James

What problems have you had??

I took mine to a garage and they said it couldn't be done as it was seized. Well 2 weeks of spraying wd40 and penetrating spray on to it later, I tried it myself. Used a tap on oneside to re-do the thread as it was pretty bad. Came out no bother and the only problem was the faff of getting it back in and aligned up. Took all of sunday basically but was not that hard to do, and no way would I pay money to have it done as you can honestly do it yourself its not hard in anyway.

Those prices sound right, I was quoted £150 to have it done....

Anywho...next weekend, showed my mate and we did his entire car in one day! Once you know what you're doing its easy! :)
