lower the same amount to keep the handling if you drive it reasonably hard. on clios rear is higher than front, so keep that profile. its not about notches, just take the bar out and raise the arm by the amount you want to drop it, then replace it.
i am debaiting on doing it myself, it seems pretty easy to do, but what are the dangers of doing it myself, what does the last paragraph mean?

not in your case, only if you have rear brakes is there a bias valve. for you its even easier, no arm in middle of car to raise, just pull bar out and jack drum up by required height, then pu back in and measure, repeat for both sides.
