Tour of the ING Renault F1 Factory!

Massive thanks to Tony Hunter for arranging a very interesting day yesterday.

A small group of us were given a tour of the F1 team Factory in Oxford, a lot of the areas were hush hush but we got to see a fair amount of the testing/design process and parts of the manufacturing processes.

Here are the pics from the day, although I wasn't allowed to take pics in a few areas.

"Super Computer" that they use for the CFD analysis and CAD design.

Wind Tunnel for aero testing of 50% scale models.

Various machinery for RP models and component manufacture.

Autoclaves for Carbon Fibre Manufacture

Exhaust Manifold "bending" :approve:

Expensive, high quality F1 cleaning equipment.

Looks pretty cool mate! I went to Spa last year and we got a tour of the pit lane at the McLaren garage, was pretty cool aswell but obv didnt get as close up as you did there.

Never understood that bloke. Way into his pension-era and with enough money to even give Bill Gates a scare. His mortal days are numbered and before long, he'll be pushing up daisies. If I was him, I'd be joining the same 'sect' as Mosley - probably employing high-class tarts to dress up as Nazis and boot me in the knackers with their boots.

Now that's the way to go. Not having some bloke crouching down in front of you with a camera lens shoved in your face.

On another note,I had to organise this months ago and names where needed straight away,Iv'e been with Cliosport for a few years now and know that people say that they want to do this and that,but when it comes to crunch time the excuses start to come in.So with that in mind I chose people who I know well and that they wouldn't let me down.
