Towing with a 1.2 16v

Im looking into whats involved in getting and running a jetski.

Could anyone tell me whats involved in getting a towbar fitted to a 2002 Clio Dynamique?

Would a little 1.2 be ok for towing a jet ski on a trailer or would I be pushing the realms of possibility a touch much?!!

Thanks

my mk1 1.2 has a tow bar on back! bought it like that. f**k know what they were expectin to pull with it like! just aint got round to tekkin it off!

ive got a tow bar on my 1.6, never towed anything yet, just use it for a bicycle carrier.

not really a rear end enhancing mod though....

Hehe cheers guys, I know I couldnt expect to pull much with a 1.2 but I dont think a jetski should be that heavy! will see if anyone posts back up here!!

Thanks

If the trailer has no brakes of its own (which it most likely hasnt), the trailer can be a maximum of half your cars kerb weight (or 750kg which ever is less).

1.2 Clio: around 950kg.

Max trailer weight: roughly 457kg.

A quick google search,
Kawasaki 1200 STX-R: 290kg
Trailer: 150kg
TOTAL: 440kg

I reckon you would be ok legally, the engine should be up to it - it doesnt take much to get a trailer rolling, itll just slow you down a bit - not that you will be racing with it on any way.

You wanna look at how you launch the jetski.

Coz, if you are thinking of slipways then I dont think a 1.2 will be strong enough to pull up the jetski/trailer up a wet slippery slope etc?

yeh, ud b better off with a diesel to tow things, especially with an automatic gearbox (as the torque selector on them means that autos work well with diesels!!!)

bcareful u dont damage ure flywheel, as there will b alot of stress and strain on it.... put stess over strain and u get youngs modulus! (btw- im revising alevel physics atm!)
