As a road tyre they are completely pointless.

As a track tyre they are awesome.

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
On full track car yes, on a track/road car id get something more hard wearing.

R888 s are brilliant in the dry if you are really pushing.

i run r888s daily. only in the dryer months of the year though. as long as you're sensible in the wet they're superb. i'd rather go through a set of r888s over a bit of road driving & a few track sessions than have to swap wheels.

will prob just put some t1-r's back on in the winter. would love eagle f1s again but they dont do them in this size i don't think?

I'm guessing you have 15s btw.

erm running 16"s atm but am wanting some 15" oz f1s and will need some good tyres for those... car will mainly b used for fast b-roading, dont know what to go for though?

completely disagree
U wont get the best out of them on the road but they are very good for road use. miles better than a standard tyre and tonnes more feel back from the steering. Have u used them?

finally someone who agrees with me! I've been scared to voice my view on these as I usually get slated.

What most people wont realise though is with the R888s the grip doesnt just fade like a normal tyre on the limit, you will go from massive amounts of grip to none at all, and when they go off they do go off.

Great tyres, just not suited to alot of people for a daily driver.

And those are good traits for a road tyre?

Id get paradas if you're after something similar p4ers.

They are perfect on the road, work absolutely fine from cold, they are good in the wet, just not great with standing water. There is simply no more too it!!
Just buy them :)

Ok..... Have u got 888's?? Have you used pe2s for three years and 888's for a whole year. Yes or no???. They are as good as a pe2 from cold yes. Come over and have a go in my car now on pe2's and in two weeks i will be fitting my 888's ready for the ring. They are fine from cold due to the fact that they are a much softer compound tyre. Ask adeyspec too. He used them all last year :)
These 888 threads are beginning to tire most people on here.
SI agrees.
Lets get it straight now.

TOYO R888'S ARE ABSOLUTELY FINE FOR ROAD USE IN WET OR DRY.
TAKE CARE IN THE WET JUST AS YOU WOULD WITH ANY TYRE IF YOUVE GOT A BRAIN AND YOU WILL BE ABSOLUTELY FINE.
ANYONE WHO WANTS TO TRY 888'S ON A ROAD CAR IS MORE THAN WELCOME TO COME AND DRIVE MY CAR AND GIVE THEIR OPINION

Ive driven Dan's and Adeys car on R888's (Once in the wet) they are fine for driving. if your going to be silly then of course you will have trouble.

Id rather have R888's than some cheap 'wingwang' budgets that are as hard as a rock and dont grip at all, that some people buy.

that said I really dont see the point if you are not going to track the car.

if its for 'B road blasts' as some one put it then you should grow up and stop using the road as a race track

Dan -R out of interest what compound are you running.

Running a medium compound rather than the soft I do find you need to get heat into them, and as I stated earlier when worked hard the grip just falls off once they are over the optimum, which alot of people wont realise happens when you use a 'grippyer' tyre.

In the wet I find them scary, although mine is on a lighter shell than my clio with a fair bit more power than a stock 172.

Most people can get by perfectly well on a set of normal T1Rs because they are reasonably soft and alot cheaper and better in the wet

I put my R888's on during thew wet weather and the still performed just as well as the Parada Spec2's I had on. Will be using R888's all the time as they're great and the Parada's on a spare set of wheels for when I'm waiting on the next set of r888's :)

My clio is 218 bhp :) yes you do need to get heat in them but they are just as grippy from cold as my pe2's! I dont find them scary in the wet at all.
Yeah when u get them too hot the grip deteriorates.
On the road tho you will never ever experience this.
I love them. Great tyres imo.
T1R's and wet are not good.

Im using them on a 200bhp saxo, as I said I think my issues are with the weight of the shell itself in the wet, plus the suspension set up I run etc etc.....

At brands in the pissing rain the only car that was on R888s and not suffering was a R26R, all of the lightweights cars were moaning and there was a fair bit of standing water out of paddock.

I got on ok with the T1-Rs in the wet in comparrison, although there are granted alot better road tyres out there, but again the price changes are what effects most peoples choice of tyre it seems these days.
