Track Car Road Insurance

Sir_Dave

I have recently been introduced to a specialist insurer who may be useful for some people on here with proper, occasional use track cars. Remember that 'Day Insurance' companies dont generally tend to insure 'modified' cars for road use ...

As such, if you meet the following criteria, drop me a pm, i wont be giving the name out publically:

1. Over 25.
2. At least 5 years no claims on your main car.
3. Highly modified track car, for track use, not just poncing about.
4. Limited mileage, ie 3k a year - for getting to & from trackdays.
5. Off road storage.

For example, at 28, with 0 no-claims, Admiral (who were by far the cheapest) wanted £750 for me to insure a standard Trophy next year (my no-claims are used on the BMW). With Flux wanting over £1k lol ...

This company are charging me £370, all mods declared.

:approve:

Just thought i'd bump this as i've made a few changes to my policy today.

£15 admin fee, but no additional premium for cage, additional engine mods, etc. In addition, they only charged me an extra £90 for upgrade to fully comp (from tpf&t) & increase to 5k a year mileage.

Happy :)

Pm me if you fit the following criteria:

1. Over 25.
2. At least 5 years no claims on your main car.
3. Highly modified track car, for track use, not just poncing about.
4. Limited mileage, ie 3k a year - for getting to & from trackdays.
5. Off road storage.

Why not give out details Dave? Bit gay doing it over PM. I'd have thought they would want the business.

Dave I meet all criteria except the 5 years no claims, but then again, you don't meet the 'Highly modified for track use' criteria so hopefully it's ok ;)

Strangely enough, they dont lol.

As a specialist, they are very choosy, & certainly dont want most of the neds on here phoning them up, getting a good price, then wrapping their 1.2 around the treez, cos i lost it at 15mph ofizer. And more importantly, i dont want my premiums to go up to pay for such stupidity.

Will do Jon.

Oh rly. Iirc, my tech spec is longer than yours :rasp:

What about if you have a pretty standard car, but don't actually use it on the road unless your GF's car is in use/off the road, or you fancy hooning it a bit? My car hardly moves and the plan is to trackday it a good few times a year.

I would be interested, but don't have storage if by that you mean garage :(
Do they cover mods or just the value of the car?

Storage as in off road parking, or locked garage.

do you 100% have to be over 25 or do they let some slide?

You have to be over 25, which is considerably more than 21 ;)

Just to reiterate, this is for people that are already using their no claims on their main, day to day car, so effectively have no no-claims for their 2nd/3rd track car.

It is not for people that are looking to get a cheaper policy on their main, everyday, commuting bus.

Exactly what I need although I don't meet some of the points.

Firstly, I'm 23, 24 in a month and secondly I use my no claims on the car because I have a work van with personal use.

My policy just now is 3k a year limited mileage and all mods declared pure track, nice weekend car but considerably more expensive than yours!

If you think they could help please pm me, if not then I will find this thread next year when I'm 25!

Cheers

Dave, couldn't see it specified in the qualifying criteria but are the policies available on an adhoc basis or simply on a 12 month term? Would only need to have it on the road on a couple of occasions to verify everything would be working properly.

Cheers
