Anything to make it a bit lighter should help I suppose.

Does anyone take their back seats out or is that just too sad?
I only ever strip my cars for 1/4 mile racing, never bothered when Ive done track days.

However we did strip my mates mk1 172 last time we took it and that made quite a difference to the handling as it oversteered more, which we wanted.

How about the spare?

Spare?! ;)

(172)Hmmmmmmm only things Ive got to take out now is all the plastic trim and the dash, got rid of the back seats and spare ages ago, and now swapped the heavy front seats for nice lightweight ones - in fact the passenger seat will be out for 1/4 milen this year toooo

(williams) yup take it all out when going 1/4 milen, but put back in afterwards - its my can carry friends car lol - But I dont carry a spare - just a complete waste of weight lol

Supposedly - or as I did, the AA

The trouble with the foam is that if you get a puncture on the motorway, your journey is buggered, as you can only do something like 20mph on the wheel!

Waste of time stripping the car for trackdays - losing the rear seats isnt going to help you catch that 911 or Noble after all. 1/4 mile-ing is a different matter, and every bit definitely helps! I might even go on a diet this year
