Traction Control Light + Service Light on help!!

  RS2'd Trophy
When I changed the steering wheel boss in my trophy I accidentally broke the centre clock spring ribbon thing. at the time I just removed the lot and lived with the Airbag lights being on.

Today I fitted a new module and clockspring from a friends 172 cup they were breaking. it all plugged in as it should and I plugged all the resisters and hey no airbag lights and a clear dash! I drove out of my house and turned right. it fealt like the car had forced on traction control and had half power, however when I returned the steering wheel to a straight line it drove perfectly.

I know have two lights which only come on when the car is moving. they are the SERV light and the traction control light.

So far when I have researched alot of people say brake pedal and Steering angle sensor. It would make sense that the module I have fitted maybe the problem but I made perfectly sure that it was fitted correctly. Could the angle of the steering clockspring play a problem with this? If so what angle should it be at and what position should the clockspring be at at 0degrees.

Some help would be appreciated guys.

Thanks again.

I had this as well. Ripped it all out because it annoyed me. I've been told that it's the steering angle sensor and it should be put back in by a pro as it's a very precise job. I'm just living with the lights at the moment

Did you make sure the steering angle sensor spinny thing was centred?

about 2.5 turns from one extreme to centre iirc.

mine also has the tc light on , my car is going into my local renault specialist on friday to have belts done so i will get them to sort that problem out , i replaced my slip ring or disc thing and it was still the same , it came zip tied and in the right position so i think it needs the clip plugging in and resetting

It depends how out it is, you have about a full turn of leeway iirc, mine was out 180 degrees so didnt snap but brought up the fault.

Depends on the age of the 172 cup but theres a really good chance that the unit you've fitted is wrong for your car. Bring it in and i'll CLIP it for you.

I have now fitted the 182 unit for the car. centred it roughly with the yellow bubble in the window while the wheels were centred. started it up and the lights were still on! 2 mins down the road and it switched off RESULT!!!

Thanks for everyones input!
