Traction Control problems

Does any one else have any problems when attempting a speedy start off.

My traction control allways kicks in and my revs fly up to around 5000+ while the wheels lock, and so the car goes either goes nowhere with a high rev noise or it makes a kind of thumping noise while proceeding forward, when changing to 2nd gear, the revs stay at around 5000 untill I take my foot of the accelerator.

I thought it might just be my sh*t driving, but a few people have tried it and they all say the same.

Any thoughts on this.

Thanks.

ye unfortunalty thats the best soloution, keep the traction on when your just cruising, turn it off when you want a bit of fun.

My model is the version that came out just a month before the model that has the switch off, so the only way for me to disconnect it is to pull out the fuse for the ABS and I dont want to be doing that as I cant get it abck in once im driving.

bummer dude, looks like your stuck with it, unless you are willing to spend money to either get a switch added or the traction removed.

Im seriously considering that, as its getting stupid when I try to ahve a bit of fun and the car goes no where. Does anyone know a place that would specalise in helping me with this problem. I went to renault and they basiclly said no the cant do anything.

at what rpm does the thing cut in?

why not take off with average revs, then when the clutch is fully engaged, then accelerate hard? Or does the same thing happen when you try this method, too?

(I have no traction control, but i do have a one touch passenger window which is more useful, IMHO). ;)

damn.. I wonder if the one touch passenger window can be retrofitted.. its a bummer how the drivers one is one touch but not passenger.. grr

If I start off at low revs, just under 1000 then I usually get away with it and when I do, the car projects itself forward like a rocket, but only if I have the clutch just about being touched, which is hard to position when you are ready to race at a split seconds notice. Anything over 1000 and it usually buggers up on me. I took the fuse out for the ABS, this solved the first gear problem but for some reason the second gear flew up in revs, which confused the hell out of me. So I might take it down to an abandoned strip and work it out.

if you took out the fuse and the engine revs rise out of time with the speed of the car is your clutch slipping maybe ?

Possibly, could this be the problem and not the tarction do you think. Does this also mean that it will need replacing?

Under normal driving conditions you wouldnt even know the car had traction control.

But when going for the 1/4 mile it just bogs it down. Only one thing to do and thats turn it off and practice your starts.

I had my clutch replaced at 500miles... I had the same problem.Under hard acceleration from standstill the revs just shot up... Apparantly the oil seal on the back of the crank was leaking and letting oil contaminate the clutch.... Renault fixed it with no hassle...
