traction control applies the brake to the spinning wheel which as well as preventing the spin will cause the power to go to the other wheel which has traction. it also reduces engine torque if nes.
maybe it was launch control i was thinking of! lol! what kind of prices would i be looking at for launch or traction control? What are the pros and cons of either?
the renault traction control control system couldnt be fitted to a phase 1 very easily as the phase 1 doesnt have multiplex or the correct abs computer or abs block. there is however a few aftermarket launch control systems that you could fit.
Ive got Racelogic traction and launch control fitted, although Ive not actually got the launch control set up. Have to say that the traction con is great. Has a few slip settings to play about with or you can turn it off, personally I prefer to leave it on the dry setting all the time, even on the drag strip, makes for a much less harsh take off but does not completely stall the car like the standard Reno system seems to. Mine was fitted in 2000 for about £350 by Racelogic in Buckingham, must find the time to go back and get the launch control sorted soon.
