Trade In - What Will I Get

Right as some of you may know im getting rid of my valver...but am struggling to do so and it needs sorted before the end of the month before it needs taxed again.

Now, i have seen a suitable replacement at a local garage - a 1.2 Mk 1 Phase 3...40k on the clock and listed at about 2k. Question is, im thinking of trading mine in against the above car so i can get things sorted out qucikly and i need your opinions on roughtly what theyll give me and what to expect.

I know id be better selling privately but the chances of getting rid quickly are slim given its (exterior) condition, where i live and the seeming preference for non-renaults in this area.

Opinions please....

that price seems high for a 1.2?

how bad is the valvers condition/miles etc?

16v has 143k on it...however the engine has been rebuilt and all the running gear is brand new but exterior wise there is surface rust on the arches along with the usual parking dings etc.

When i enquired previously about the 1.2 they said theyd knock 500quid off it...but that was without mention of a trade in

then buy it for £1.5k and then sell ur valver, itll end up u get the better deal then

as i said, im going to be lucky to sell the 16v before tax runs out so just want to get it sorted ASAP if i can...

yeh you will prob get a better deal without a trade in. LOok at parkers (parkers.co.uk) for an estimate on your car

Tried that but you need to pay for parkers prices on cars older than M reg (mines a K) - for an m with 80k they were quoting about 1600 p/e....

well if u trade in,, itll be like £200 odd

they give u nothing!!!!

i have a T reg Avensis, 35k and theyre oferin £2k max!!!!!!!

if i sold private id get £3k within a week!!!

sell yours first mate, as the dealer wont care about the work youve done to it, they will just see it as a K reg valver.
if you were to do a deal with them, they ought to give you the money & the car, not the other way around .

Got to the garage and see what youll offer you. Then stick it up on the forum and see what people are willing to offer. You might find someone near you wanting to buy it for spares or to strip it out for a track car. for more than the garage will give you.

Mk1, Phase3s go for higher normally anyway. They were different than P1/P2. Engine was a Mk2 engine, and a few other things..

I know the 1.2 is a great car.. I had one.

The Mk1, Phase3 is also, by survey, the most reliable Clio..
