Travel of rear shocks

Evening all,

I've bought a cheap 182 with both cup packs that is becoming a track car. Plan was coilovers but the car was cheap and is a little rotten so don't want to double the value of the car by buying coilovers!

I removed the rear disks and drivers side shock tonight to give it a once over.

When compressing the shock it only goes in around 50 to 100mm. Surely this isn't right? I'm getting a knock from that side so assuming it's this but just want to confirm there should be more travel than this?

Fwiw I don't think the cup shocks have much movement at all. I actually had one less than a few hundred miles on it burst completely when the car was lifted and think this may be due to overextending it?

Just to confirm to anyone that has a similar problem.

Managed to get the other side shocky off today and can confirm it compresses waaaaay more than 30mm like the other side. Obviously an internal issue with the shock
