Trickle Charging

Hi all I have recently bought a trickle charger from Lidl, seemed to get good reviews,in the instructions it says disconnect the black negative terminal off the battery then connect the trickle charger,I was hoping you could just put trickle charger on the battery without disconnecting any of the terminals,has anyone had any experience using trickle chargers and if you disconnect or just put it on the battery with out taking any terminals off? Thanks Steve

i've used them with it hooked up without issues. got a load of them years ago, only had one go faulty in that time. killed a few though when i've dropped the ramp down on them.
