Trolley Jacks and Mk1 Clio’s.

Ok, where do people jack their cars up?

Ive seen people do it on the sill.. but I cant cus of the side skirts.. some people use subframe, some other places.

Where does everyone put a trolley jack on their car to get the front up? Pics! Cus then I can see exactly where, hehe.

I use some wood on mine, but I dont think Im doing it in the right place, heh.

Also for the back?

Thanks,

Daz.

someone told me i cant lower my mark 1 phase 3 cos its got 7 inch wide wheels on?!and it will rub loads on the back is this true any ideas?

mate, people have willy wheels on their Rts and they are 7 inchers. get rid of the guards and you should be ok. some people have to get their arches rolled, some dont.

Cheers mate i just bought the car so i got 2 clios now trying to sell one tho!but this one the rear lip on the arch has been pushed in exactly the same both sides which seems a bit weird but it hasnt been rolled or nuttin i dunno what this means.im sure it hasnt been lowered before though!

on the front i use the subframe(protect it with some wood though) or the inner chassis rail.you could also use the chassis section that goes from the sill to the inner chassis rail (at the front just behind the wheel arch).at the rear use the axle mounting points.

At the rear I put it under the joint where the trailing arm mounts to the chassis. I dont know what its called but its bloody strong. Move the rear wheel up and down, the bit where it pivots from, thats where you want to lift.

At the front, Ive never been able to get a trolley jack far enough under to reach the chassis rails, so Ive always lifted it just under the sill rear of the front wheelarch where the wing bottom bolts on, perfectly sound.
