Trophy or Polo

  GW Clio 200

I dont know whether getting the Trophy is a compromise, you get recaros but lose rear leather seating and xenons. You get better suspension and a loverly rear spolier, but Im unsure of the colour ( from photos )

I want an excuse to change my car as I love doing that, but is the Trophy that different from what I already have.

I dunno!!!

If you already have a 182 mate i wouldnt bother as A)Performance aint gonna be different and B)You probably have a better colour car at the moment;)although the red isnt too bad....The only thing i can see which is a bonus on the car is the wheels but you could buy them easily for your current!!!

Sure some people on here will say differently though!!!

Just a gimmick to guarantee the sales of a few more 182s before the new shape Clio comes out imo!!!!!!

Couldnt you just buy a set of recaros and a V6 spoiler?

Unless you intend to really drive your car then theres no point getting a Trophy. The ride is very firm and it handles a lot better than my 182 with Cup packs did.

Climate I can live without as it has aircon, the cheap rears I dont care about, the lack of xenons makes no difference as they still have the ability to light the road, the seats are amazing, but better still the lowered driving position, the brake and accelerator are also closer together and make heal and toeing even easier. Also to me it looks fantastic, the red is stunning and the anthracite turinis look the dogs.

But the main thing is its not about what it looks like (even though I love how it looks) its about how it drives, and thats a big improvement again.

Im really, really glad I swapped mine.

LOL, cheers mate  :p

xTreme: All I can say is it is so much better that my 172, in just about every way.

Unless you drive a Trophy you wont understand. Sadly the main reason for buying one keeps being overlooked. Theres no point buying one just for the seats/wheels/colour imo, for me its all about the suspension.

If youre not going to drive it hard / and or do track days though, then id keep with the the 182 youve got.

I found buying a good set of H4s and side lights improves the clios standard headlight ten fold! Infact the standard light were WORSE than my Saxo mk2s. The new osram H4s and bright sidelgihts improved on that.

I know the xenon are good but they can be done without,

I dont know if it was intended or not. The other day I had the door open showing someone the car, and I noticed the brake and accelerator pedal were closer together. At the time I had a pair of trainers on which I dont usually drive in so thought nothing of it. Yesterday though I had my usual trainers on and found I could use more than just my big toe on the brake pedal while catching the throttle with side of my foot.

As I said I dont know if its meant to be different, but they are closer than they were on my 172 and 182.

By the way anyone wanting a test drive from the Kent area, there will be one at Orpington as a demo... just to let you guys know!!!!

Id personally keep what you have, its as fast, better equipped and your average driver will never drive hard enough on the road to notice the difference in handling. Oh and its not that horrible red colour.

totally right ^^

buy a full fat 182. have ALL the toys. get recaors and save over 30kgs in weight hence actually lighter than a standard 182cup then and you will have sexy recaros + really nice rear leather/alcantara seats with headrests.

maybe get a v6 spoiler ? (dunno which i prefer)

alloys get some team dynamics or oz wheels that are the same look but lighter still in the finish you want.

that way you have a full spec 182 with xenons climate etc.. thats ligter than a 182cup (if only by 10kgs but more with lighter wheels) with really nice recaros, quality rear seats (so people dont think you put recliners in a 1.2) and any colour you want + a choice of what alloys rather than being told to "keep in Standard".
