Trophy owners - Pic request

  200 Gordini
Thanks alot! Thats what my drivers is like now but the passenger wires have been cut.
Could you check yours to see if its the same?

I've got a pic.. 2 mins

Theses wires are coming from the passenger seat, His electrician neighbor cut these, i've texted him (hes at work) to find out what they were connected to because i cant remember

cant make head nor tail of that photo fella. are they upside down?

This is the underside of my seat. You can see the airbag resistor (yellow) on the end of the wire.

subframe2.jpg

behind it all you can see the protected cable (black plastic tube) going to the pretensioner.

on the left you can see the cable heading off to the car electrics system to communicate the presence of an airbag and to trigger the pretensioner. What car are you fitting the seats in?

Right, im outside with the laptop now and my drivers side looks the same as yours except the air bag resistor but on the passenger side the wires from the seat have been cut before the clip for the pre tensioner

Im fitting the to a 182 ff

Pics are upside down. From the seat there is a blue and brown wire.
the blue was soldered to a red wire, The brown is soldered to another brown wire

key question - have you switched the ignition on yet? I am assuming you have if so the airbag light will have come on?

this image may help.

again the black taped cable goes to the cars electrics. The yellow it the airbag resistor with the resitor wire poking out of it.

The other cables leading under the seat are going to the pretensioner.

Yes and the service light. Why has the passenger only got 2 wires coming from the pre tensioner then :s?

Trophy owners could you PLEASE check under your passenger seat!

The reason for the two cables on the passengers side and three on the drivers side is that the drivers side has a switch in the seatbelt clip (binging noise when your belt is not plugged in.) so requires a third wire.

Now that your SERV and airbag light are on you will need to go to a dealer/someone with a Renault CLIP system to turn them off again. Because you switched on the ignition without an airbag/airbag replacement resistor in position the cars brain thinks there is a fault and has permanently logged it.

That is why when changing the seats you unplug the battery etc before removing and reconnecting anything.

(I hope your are unplugging the battery before you disconnect/mess around with things as there is a small risk that the pretensioners might go of if they are not properly discharged- takes about 10 mins.)

Right, its not a red light it was my torch making it look red.

The two wires from the pre tensioner will need to be soldered to the tensioner wires from the car. Im guessing the clip will need to be cut off?

Yeah, disconnected the battery just in case.

tbh mate its very hard to diagnose over the web without actually seeing it. I would leave everything disconnected until you are certain what goes where. If you solder it up wrong you could have pretensioners going off which isn't ideal. I can map out the wires under my passenger seat if you need me too.

Did you understand what I said about the third wire?

I would suggest you find a scrap 182 (there is someone breaking one on here atm) and get all the clips from under the seat then refit in the same layout as mine.

Have you got a replacement airbag resistor?

I wont be doing it myself. But if you could map them out then that would be a big help.

Yeah i know what you mean about the 3rd wire, i should have guessed really.

I need to send the bloke i got the recaros off my clip that would go into the pretensioner clip.
So would be getting the new clips be my best bet or would doing it how it was on the blokes car not suffice?

Im going to get my mate at renault to use the CLIP hopefully.

Also, would i need both of the clips i.e one for the seat wires and one for the car wires?

Surely someone breaking a car would have to sell the clip from the seats WITH the seats

lol all this talk of clips and CLIPS confusing ay.

You will need the following. How you get them is up to you... you will need an airbag replacement resistor as even if your mate turns of the lights they will come straight back on again.

pretensioner socket and clip to connect the cables coming out of the pretensioner to the wiring loom.

airbag replacement resistor.
lower section has the wires that originally went into the seat airbag stripped and pushed into it.

img20.jpg

the stripped wires that once went to the airbag go in the connector like this:

All these images came from link so are ©red cup (user on here)

Its an excellent guide if you need some help although the wiring in the above image is explained wrongly (colours into holes but the image above thankfully is correct - so it must have been a typo)

PS just to ruin your day but if your mate cant turn off the lights renault will charge you to the tune of £60 plus for turning them off. You have to do this or your car will fail MOT.

With regard to the replacement resistors, those are the expensive ones from capitol seating, however they are neat and reliable although a lot of money for what they are. You can do it with a correct Ohm resistor from Maplin soldered in but i avoided this as if done wrong it ends up costing you more than the proper resistors in the first place.

Hope that all helps fella.

If i installed these resistors would the light automatically got out?

That does really help though and i'll get them ordered tomorrow.. but £20 each :quiet:

nope, you need to get them swtiched off too I'm afraid :( but once the resistor is in properly they wont come back on.

£20 each, but worth it mate.

Ah okay.

Not sure what i'm going to do about the passenger side atm probably having it how it was is the best bet.

If you could do me that map of the wires for me id be grateful, just to make sure the job gets done properly.

Also thanks again, been a big help!
