Trophy trouble

I have been offered 8k trade in on my 53 plate Mk2 172 with 23k on the clock for a new Trophy at 15,275k.

Im I being stupid, given the differences in the performance, and loosing a car with no finance for 7k worth of finance.

HELP!! What do I do? The Trophy wont be in the showroom for long!!:S

I wouldn't put myself in 7k of debt personally. Plus I reckon you could pick the trophy up for around 13k or less

First of all thats about £1.5k over the odds for the Trophy before you even get started.

Either get them to slash the price of the trophy if you really want one, or just coilover and recaro the 172 and pocket the difference.

Can you buy the Recaros from Renault? What sort of coilovers exist that compete with the Trophy's set up?

My warrenty end in Nov 06 so If I wait till then I can modify the 172 a litle anyway huh?

Yup as r-jay says you can get them other ways. I would personally Get H&R coilovers i had a set on my 172 and they were awesome. expect to pay about £650 if you shop about but they can be listed as high as £800.

I wouldnt worry about the warranty tbh, the mods will only affect the parts you replace. They have to prove the mods were a reason for any other parts failing and its more often more hassle for them than its worth. Dansta recently had a driveshaft done on his FOC despite the fact he's hammered the s**t out of the car and its been on the deck on coilovers for ages.

Its such a more complete car. Saying that If I found a trophy for the right price I might just take it!!!!

Trophy Naff colour, no quicker, wheels are nice but wrong colour, vee spoiler is a bit big...
Keep the 172 and do what the loon says.

You mean the wheels, spoiler, seats and suspension ? it can be done but the suspension will be the prohibatively expensive part. H&R's set up properly by someone (not kwikfit) will make a world of difference to the car believe me. When you go to change the tyres fit 205.45.16s instead of the 195s

The sachs suspension ain't that good! I'd rather have h&r's any day or Leda's. Trophy doesn't have the all important xenon's either.
